Thanks to the ruling class

To the editor:

We seem to have two classes of people in this country — the ruling class and the rest of us. A few examples — primarily political — will suffice:

  • During the 1960s, the ruling class decided we could have a “Great Society.” Check out the amount of the federal government’s budget going toward welfare.

    I saw somewhere that 10,000 people a day are becoming eligible for Medicare. I will soon be one of them.

    The middle class has been taxed to death to pay for the welfare system, and the welfare system has been used to get votes. It has worked like a charm, but the entitlement attitude is out of control;

  • The ruling class approved these insane trade laws which cost a lot of people their jobs. Now, the ruling class is promising to bring manufacturing jobs back to get votes.

    Would somebody tell me how we will fight a major war with no industry?;

  • The ruling class decided we needed a nation of ownership and one way to do this was to make it easy to borrow money.

    In 1999, Congress repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, and this opened the door for irresponsible bankers to lend money to people who could not pay it back for whatever reason.

    Since the ruling class always knows best, we have the people who caused the financial problem (to get votes) trying to fix it. They are trying to fix a credit problem with more credit. Isn’t this a little like robbing Peter to pay Paul? Of course, the federal government can legally print money.

    Now would be a good time to start a movement to limit the terms of the people in Congress before they ruin the country or give it to China. They have come very close to doing both;

  • What about Coleman MarketPlace? The ruling class decided Danville needed to be a regional shopping hub. I hope they were right;

  • What about socialized medicine? There is a group of people in Washington bound and determined to ram socialized medicine down our throats. They want this to be a socialist country. Anyone who has ever been in the military has been introduced to socialized medicine. I have and I didn’t like it;

  • On uranium mining in Pittsylvania County, some members of the ruling class in Richmond have decided there is going to be a study to determine if uranium can be mined safely in the country. It will not surprise me if the study shows why it can be done safely.

    In other words, the hypothesis is: Uranium can be mined safely, so let’s prove it.

    This reminds me of a few people with a vested interest wanting a study to prove the Earth is flat when all the available information says it is round.

    I smell a rat. I have been to Coles Hill and was active in the movement against uranium mining years ago. I was at the meeting held at the Stratford Conference Center, and it was professionally conducted and everybody had a chance to ask questions and make comments.

    I guess when they blast away and hit water while mining uranium, they will put the rocks back in the cracks, seal up the cracks with something and the water table and Buggs Island Lake won’t get contaminated; and

  • The ruling class in Washington refuses to pass a law making English the official language of the United States.

    Our forefathers, who came from different countries all over the Earth, had to learn English. But the Spanish speakers don’t. Anything for a vote.

This is still the greatest country on Earth — everybody wants in and nobody wants out. We have come further, faster than any country in history. There is no type of economic system out there that compares to capitalism.

Wilson thanks city voters

To the editor:

I was one of the three candidates for Danville Treasurer. I want to thank all the people who supported me with their votes and words of encouragement throughout the campaign. It was a pleasure meeting and speaking to so many Danville citizens.

I want to congratulate Lyn Barbour for his successful election to the treasurer’s position. There were several occasions he and I crossed paths during the campaign. I want to thank him for his sense of humor and the laughs we enjoyed as competitors.

I want to thank David Giffen and Barbour for their fair and competitive campaigns. It was a disappointment to lose, but keeping the campaign on our qualifications made it easier to accept the loss. I have a lot of respect for David and Lyn. I felt all of us had a lot to bring to the office.

I wish nothing but the best for both men in the future.

The Government/Corporation is the upper class and then the people are the servants.

The American government represents the Corporation not the people and the State of Virginia and anyone serving the government (supervisors/city counsel) must represent business or the business may sue county or city.

Therefore, the so call Scientific Uranium Study will favor the state of Virginia because it is a government entity!!

Consequently, in order for the people to rule, we have to petition our local government to represent us or we will throw them out!!

Sort of like a revolution, which may happen before uranium, mining happens to the county!!
