To the editor:
Words cannot express the appreciation I feel toward the citizens of Danville for choosing me to serve as their treasurer.
Those who worked so tirelessly toward my success are too numerous to mention individually; however, I want them all to know they have my never-ending gratitude. Political elections are not won by individuals, but rather by the untiring efforts and support of friends. Once the ballots are cast and the votes counted, it is the individual who receives the honors and the responsibility. I consider it a privilege to serve the citizens of Danville and I assure you I will not take this responsibility lightly.
I would like to publicly commend David Giffen and Jackie Wilson for joining me in making this campaign about informing the public of our individual qualifications. Too often in today’s politics, candidates choose to focus their campaigns on what is wrong with the other candidates — true or not — rather than what is right with themselves. We all chose to run for the office of treasurer, not against each other.
Again, thank you for electing me to the office of treasurer. I look forward to serving you in the courteous, honest and professional manner you deserve.
LYNWOOD L. “LYN” BARBOUR
