It really is a bad mess there

To the editor:

I am finally glad someone other than me sees the mess at the intersection of Route 41 (Franklin Turnpike) and Piney Forest Road, “A bad intersection gets a lot worse,” (Aug. 7, page A8). I am a victim of that confusion, as my car was totaled in that area because of too much going on.

Every day it looks like a disaster zone. Who is going to know which way to go? There are median strips everywhere. I was there last weekend and people were u-turning to go back down Piney Forest at McDonald’s. And when you turn out to go up Route 41, is that two lanes in front of CVS — or one? When coming into town, is that three or four lanes?

I told someone the other day, I wonder how many times they will tear up the sidewalks and median strips before they get it right. Many days I go by and there seems to be nothing going on.

So, can someone tell us what is going on? And when if ever they will finish? It seems that it took less time to do the three miles out to Mount Hermon Baptist Church than the mile into town from Orphanage Road. School starts in a few weeks, and it never fails most of the roads in Danville are under construction.
