Several weeks ago, my husband’s mother was admitted to Danville Regional Medical Center after a seemingly innocuous fall developed into pneumonia. We can honestly attest to the fact that during the two weeks that she was a patient there, she received excellent care.

I am writing in reply to, “Go back to the ‘old look’ of the R&B,” (Aug. 3, page A9). I say “amen” to her and I totally agree.

Just a note to bring to the attention of all the residents of Westover Drive, Surry Hills and the surrounding areas. There are no senior exercise classes or other senior activities at the Coates Recreation Center. I think this is an awful waste. Don’t we qualify as Danvillians? We all pay taxes too.

I am finally glad someone other than me sees the mess at the intersection of Route 41 (Franklin Turnpike) and Piney Forest Road, “A bad intersection gets a lot worse,” (Aug. 7, page A8). I am a victim of that confusion, as my car was totaled in that area because of too much going on.

In this day and age — in an effort to jump-start a dozing government — to whom does the American taxpayer turn? A government so blatantly inept that it still collects taxes and continues to spend our monies, yet leaves town at a time when very important matters need solid answers.

I was reading an article about Democratic congressional candidate Tom Perriello getting a boost from his party with some red to blue campaign. The fact of the matter is if the color were really representative of the party, the Democrats would have to use the color red. This is really quite confusing when the socialists (reds) are deeply involved in the Democratic Party with every nutty organization in the country. 

What do we hope to accomplish with sound bites, misquotes and polarizing partisan rhetoric? Do any of us truly believe that Barack Obama’s energy plan is simply for Americans to properly inflate their automobile tires? Similarly, does anyone honestly believe that John McCain wishes to see American servicemen and servicewomen in Iraq 100 years from now? Do we really care who wears an American flag lapel pin?

Merricks, Marshall stood up for us, Does gasoline really cost more today?, Why give these people a platform?, Join me to help Obama, Go back to the ‘old look’ of the R&B, We can reach this goal and Americans must push

Let those prisoners live with them and Goode has worked hard for us

Some folks don’t get parking tickets, Political candidates don’t need bright TV lights to visit hospitalized troops and Goode has stood up for our values
