A Rockingham County teenager died in a wreck early Saturday morning.
William Alexander “Alex” Reynolds, 20, of 233 Elon Drive in Reidsville, lost control of his car at 3:19 a.m. on Vance Street Extension outside Reidsville, said the Highway Patrol. Alcohol was a factor in the wreck.
Reynolds was traveling west on Vance Street Extension at a “high rate of speed,” when he ran off the road on the right and struck a ditch and a tree. The car overturned and he was thrown from the vehicle, according to the Highway Patrol.
Reynolds died at the scene.
Reynolds graduated from Rockingham County High School and attended Rockingham Community College. He was a member of Holy Infant Catholic Church and worked for Ruby Tuesday.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Infant Catholic Church, with Father John Putnam and Father Joe Mack officiating. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
