Reidsville police are investigating the theft of 15 feet of copper pipe from an air-conditioning unit at Shear Accent, 1249 W. Harrison St.

Lt. Wendell Neville said taking scrap metal such as copper has become a common occurrence because of the skyrocketing prices. He said the cost to repair the damage to the unit would surpass the value ($25) of the scrap copper that was stolen.
