One applicant for school board to go to Rockingham commissioners

Only one applicant’s name for a vacant at-large position on the Rockingham County school board will be submitted to the county board of commissioners, as decided by the school board last night.
During their meeting, Elaine McCollum, school board chair, suggested the board heed the county commissioners’ request to nominate up to three candidates to consider. The board instead voted to conduct interviews for the 13 applicants Aug. 27.
The applicants are:
