An Eden man is in jail after being charged with child abuse, police said.
On Tuesday, Richard Ogle, 19, of 505 Orchard Drive, was charged with felony child abuse and serious bodily injury involving a 7-week-old baby. Ogle checked the baby into the emergency room at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
The infant is at the Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem. The Department of Social Services is involved.
Hospital emergency room personnel contacted the Eden Police Department on Saturday to report the injury to the baby, who suffered a broken leg and other injuries. According to the father, he checked the infant into the emergency room because the baby had been crying for the past few days.
Officers searched Ogle at the time of his arrest and found eight small baggies of marijuana. Ogle was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver and he is scheduled to appear in District Court on Dec. 2. Bail was set at $150,000.

Sadly this Man was on probation .

What we have on our hands is a real tragedy, teens who are mostly drop-outs from dysfunctional families themselves, are having babies who are destined to follow in their foot steps. The only way they know to show authority is to beat on the child the way they were beaten on. Social services should require that every teen who comes to them for assistance be required to attend parenting classes as a prerequisite for getting benefits. We have seen this before recently, where a child is left in the care of a boyfriend, and is killed. These babies cannot protect themselves, society must.

I’m sure it’s not all the daddy’s fault,some of these “baby’s mamas” get pregnant on purpose so they don’t have to work and can live off the gov’t!They get housing,food stamps,free medical,and god knows what else. The daddy’s are trapped in this “mamas” web of lies and ends up having to do whatever he can to pay child support or be thrown in jail by her for non support.These men aka thugs need to be educated so they don’t fall into the spider’s web.
This entrapment turns otherwise good guys into thugs because they see no other way out.And the mama’s end up having more babies just to get more freebies from the gov’t.Most of the time the baby’s daddy” ends up living with the mama because he can live there for free!As long as he can hide from the law and sell his drugs,he thinks he’s got it made.
The gov’t should do away with all these public housing places because that’s where these thugs live and breed!
The poor innocent little kids are the victims here…and the “fat mamas and daddy’s” just keep doing the same thing over and over. It makes me sick that honest taxpayers are paying for these people so they don’t have to work!Take away their playhouse and food and I bet ya they go get a job or move on to another town.

Oh my, that poor baby, i hope it’s ok, and that dss take it away from them. There are so many people in this world who can’t have children and want them so badly. Why can’t they just give them up for adoption. Oh thats right cause dss gives them a check so they can buy more drugs to sell. I hope they throw the book at this scum bag! If they would hold courthouse hangings like they use to maybe people wouldnt break the law and hurt innocent children.

What we need is to make believers out of these “people”. The numbers of these type crimes are only increasing. We need laws that will justify the crime. No plea bargins should be allowed in crimes of this nature. It is a sad comment that innocent infants are becoming targets of these thugs. We need to protect our children. Mothers, put your child before you do the piece of trash men that you are allowing near your children. Children are a first priority and should never take a backseat to some guy that you “think” you know. Judges, stand up for these children. Throw the book at these thugs!

Where is the baby’s mama? 7 weeks old….....OMG.what was he thinking…..oh that’s right….smoking pot makes a person not think or care about anyone or anything! That baby is lucky to be alive!
