Eight-year-old Macy Roberts plays with Flash at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter on Friday afternoon. Roberts donated more than $100 of her birthday money to the shelter. Roberts asked friends and family to give her money to donate instead of presents.
Shelter Director Caroline Sanders said that the money would go towards painting the cats’ room and for gravel around the shelter to help prevent fleas and ticks.
