Woman killed in Pittsylvania County car crash

DANVILLE — A woman was killed when her car ran off the road late Friday night in Pittsylvania County.

According to the Virginia State Police, the wreck happened after 11 p.m. Friday on Route 68, just east of Route 641.

Police say June Faith Welch, 40, of Hurt, was driving when she ran off the right side of the road and hit an embankment. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she was not wearing a seat belt.
