RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ The State Board of Elections has certified challenger Tom Perriello as the winner over Republican Congressman Virgil Goode.

The board on Monday certified Perriello as the winner by 745 votes in the 5th District congressional race. Goode is entitled to a recount if he chooses.

Perriello’s apparent victory gives Democrats a 6-5 majority in Virginia’s congressional delegation.

The board also certified the rest of the election results, including victories by Democrats Barack Obama for president and Mark Warner for U.S. Senate.

Rock is correct.

Even Perriello supporters should be realistic, any, ANY election won by less than 1%, this even less than a quarter of a percent, would be challenged.

And why would the opposition be against this unless they are not as sure about the outcome as they pretend to be.

If the election were the other way around and Mr. Perriello called for a recount, his opponents would call him a cry-baby (this has happened before with other elections), yet they want Goode to fight to the bitter end. What an unprincipaled, hypocritcal double-standard.

yeti’s version of reality sounds better than the than the scared, uptight, lynch mob mentality we got going on now.

Ten Commandments, I guess you are referring to me in your comments. I have you know, I do not work for Virgil. I work a 40 hour a week job elsewhere, but I do care about what goes on around me. Just so u know, I did support Virgil, but i also Supported Mark Warner. Party Affiliation don’t mean a thing to me, It is what the person can do for me is wht matters.

GOODE’S OVER-PAID EMPLOYEES LIKE “EELSTEW” “JIMMYSICKO” “ILOVEPOLISHTICKS” HAVE NOTHING TO DO THESE DAYS BUT SIT AROUND HIS GOVERNMENT OFFICE & READ MESSAGE BOARDS & WHINE ABOUT HOW THE MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS IN THE 5TH DISTRICT “MUST HAVE BEEN WRONG.”    HOW SAD THAT THEY & THEIR BOSS “MR. NO GOOD” DON’T WANT TO FACE UP TO THE FACT THAT THEY GOT US INTO THIS DISASTEROUS FINANCIAL DEPRESSION MESS & THE MAJORITY OF VOTERS WISED UP TO THEIR SCAM & ARE SICK OF THEM. HIT THE ROAD JACK!  GOOD RIDDANCE! KEEP UP THE WHINE ON YOUR WAY. NOBODY IS PAYING ANY ATTENTION. THEN HEAD OVER TO VIRGINIA EMPLOYMENT, PUT IN AN APPLICATION & SEE WHAT REAL LIFE IS LIKE IN THE MESS YOU CREATED.

Actually, “yeti” is telling the truth, the only inaccuracy in his/her post is the way in which liberals will inflict their hateful agenda. Liberals use the courts to circumvent the electorate. Take “yeti” at it’s word, he/she is telling the truth.

But we’re not leaving, but rather we’re ready to fight for our country.

Attention all red voters. We(Liberals) will be by your houses soon to collect all your guns, tax your bullets and perform gay marriage ceremonies on your front lawn’s; administered by buddhist, shaman, witch doctors(that don’t share your values).
It’s going to be bad, leave the country while you still can.

Fight Mr. Goode, FIGHT!

There are so many problems with the votes that they will never get them straight.

It is obvious, at least to me, that any and every thing was done to get a Democrat in this office.

Everytime Goode would come ahead votes “mysteriously” appeared to put Perriallo ahead.  I even heard one area had 2500 registered voters and there were 5000 votes counted.

I am just glad Goode is ready to fight for what he knows he deserves.

Well, ReCount it is. Way to go Virgil. Will they use pencils or the old fashion machines with the little handles you pull down or what. I just hope they get folks in there that will do it right, not like what is on the Virginia State Board of Elections website after the election. Even as of yesterday and the weekend they were still counting. So what does that tell you. There may even be more errors.

Congratulations Congressman Perriello! Bet you feel like Mr. Smith going to Washington. WE in Southside are so proud to have you going to Washington to fight for us.  I know you well enough to know that you will work as hard for us as we work for our own families. I also know that you mean what you say and that you will be in the area a lot. You know that although you have to be in Washington to take care of business, you also have to be in the 5th to know what business needs taken care of. You can only do that by keeping in touch with constituents. I know that your staff in the 5th will help you do know our concerns when you cannot be here. You will be a Congressman that people will not forget about because you will be around the district meeting with as many as possible. The prospect is so exciting. Finally, someone who gets it! Thank-you Congressman Perriello.
