Thousands of Dominion Virginia Power customers remain without power this morning after powerful thunderstorms rolled across the state last night.

The most widespread outages were in the Shenandoah Valley/Western Piedmont service area, where more than 2,200 customers remained without power at 6 a.m.

Another 1,200-plus were without power in the Northern Virginia service area.

In all, nearly 4,000 Dominion customers were in the dark this morning. That figure included less than 50 in the Richmond/Tri-Cities service area.
