DANVILLE — A Danville man received minor injuries while foiling an armed robbery attempt shortly after 1 a.m. Monday.
The Danville Police Department responded to a robbery call from an apartment complex in the 400 block of Parker Road, where the resident told officers he heard a woman yelling for help outside his door. However, when he opened the door, two armed men demanded money from him.
The victim said the men, one with a gun and the other with a knife, came into the apartment and ordered him to get on the floor, where he was kicked in the ribs and had his hands stepped on.
The suspects then reportedly let the victim get up to look for his wallet, and he was able to knock the gun out of one of his attackers’ hand.
Both suspects then reportedly ran from the apartment.
The suspects are described as dark-skinned black men, one dressed all in black, the other with a white shirt on.
Police responding to the incident discovered that the gun used in the incident was an authentic-looking toy.
The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call Danville Crimestoppers at (434) 7983-0000. Citizens who contact Crimestoppers may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
