Officials find man who escaped custody

CHATHAM — The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has found a suspect who escaped custody today as he was being taken to jail.
Larry Wayne Dodson, 19, was found at 8 p.m. hiding in an outbuilding behind a residence on Lanier Street in Chatham
Deputies arrested Dodson on charges of breaking and entering and grand lar-ceny at about 3:30 p.m. and transported him to Pittsylvania County Jail. However, Dodson es-caped custody as deputies removed him from the vehicle, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Dodson was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and was still handcuffed. He was most recently spotted near Old Dutch Supermarket in Chatham.
