Police have arrested one suspect and are looking for two others involved in a robbery Monday evening at the Purdum Woods apartment complex.

A man reported being robbed at Purdum Woods shortly before 6:30 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department.

The victim told officers that he went to Shonda Latarsha Mayo’s apartment to play chess, but was robbed instead by Mayo and two black males.

“The two guys roughed him up while she held the gun on him,” Lt. Mike Mondul said Tuesday. “He was not seriously injured.”

Mayo, 33, has been arrested and charged with robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Mondul said the two men who assisted in the robbery have not been identified. The victim described the suspects as being in their 20s or 30s, with one wearing a black hoodie and dark pants, and the other wearing a dark shirt and baseball cap.

I never said I was robbed. I said I was a victim of a crime. Further more who said that I am black?

Now, this is getting a little too crazy!
The person in the photo is black and I can bet money that her friends were black too.  I also believe that all the people that robbed you were black as well.  I too grab my purse and lock my doors when I see a group of young black males, not that i have been robbed by them or even mugged but the fear is there and no I do not have the same fear when i see a group of young white males.  Is this my fault?

The robbery on Riverside was heard by me on my scanner.  It might make it to the R&B about Tuesday since they print old news any way.  Plus they print the paper in Lynchburg now too from what I have heard.

Okay David I feel you it’s just sometimes it looks like you was saying only black people commits crimes…True enoungh in Danville they do alot of robberies are being committed by them.  This is why I said I grab my purse, lock my car doors, etc.when I see a group of them and I’m black.  By all means I think we should all be treated equal and voice our opinions without being label a racist…But I see your point and point taken…

David. Add another statistic to the robberies.  Just last night the Daytona gas station on Riverside was robbed at gun point by a non caucasian- non hispanic male.  Trying to be politically correct. He was last seen running towards Pleasant View.

well well…the race card all over the place. I had hoped since the election, this stuff was going to stop but i think it only brought out more discontent. However, there are white people who live in section 8 housing who are just as much thugs as the one this article is about. All thugs arent black and everyone here knows it. Its the mentality and perception many people are raised with however, both can be changed if the individual wants it. We see all the time people who move out of the ghetto but bring it with them. I lived in a white ghetto trailer park for many years growing up and so did my children but I worked 2 and 3 jobs then as a result of learning something differnt, was blessed with a decent job and able to move into a good neighborhood but it took time and I never felt anyone owed me anything. I was tuaght I had to work for what i want and get. We dont have it all but we have our needs and most of all…love. But the way to go was changing me….

Well if you must know it was not just “MY RACE” that participated in this crime. And secondly I put GOD in everything I do. Thats why I’m not a racist COWARD!!! It is really easy to be a racist behind a computer but do it in public and see what it gets you!
