BLAIRS — The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place at an Expressway Mart in Blairs on Sunday night.
A man in a camouflage mask entered the store carrying a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, Cpl. Tim Eanes, of the sheriff’s office, said. The man took $126 and fled the area on foot, Eanes said.
The suspect was also wearing blue jeans and Jersey gloves, Eanes said. He was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds, but the clerk could not offer a more detailed description because the robber was covered up, Eanes said.
No one else was in the store when the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. at 5912 U.S. Highway 29 in Blairs.
A canine unit was tracking the suspect Sunday evening, Eanes said.
