CHATHAM — The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Mark Patrick Alger, 32, who is wanted for breaking and entering, grand larceny, violation of probation and contempt of court.

Sheriff Mike Taylor said in a news release sent Friday that Alger is a white male, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair that is balding in front, and blue eyes. He has tattoos on his right knee and left ankle, and a scar over his left eye.

Alger has had several addresses in Danville and Pittsylvania County, where he has worked for local farmers in the past, Taylor said.

Residents are asked to contact their local police department if they see Alger and are warned not to try to detain him themselves.

Information about Alger also can be called in to Pittsylvania County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-792-0044. Callers do not have to identify themselves and may be eligible for a cash reward.
