YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — New court dates were set Thursday for a pair of burglary suspects and the four men accused of killing a Caswell County convenience storeowner.
On Dec. 9, Turner Blackwell, Jameil Simpson and Nicholas King, who are charged with the January robbery and murder of 53-year-old Sayed Rawi, will have another status review of their case, Superior Court Clerk John Satterfield said Thursday. Blackwell, 18, Simpson, 17, and King, 20, are being held in Caswell County Jail. Another suspect in the murder, 17-year-old Dion McCain, will have a Jan. 13 court date due to a scheduling conflict with his attorney, the court clerk said.
In addition, the couple local law enforcement described as a present day “Bonnie and Clyde” will be in court for a Jan. 15 hearing, according to Satterfield.
Jessica Hazelwood Richardson, 21, of U.S. 158 in Leasburg, is charged with multiple counts of breaking and entering, grand larceny and possessing and concealing stolen goods.
Timothy Wayne Nichols, 20, who shares the same address, will have a tentative trial date of Feb. 23. Satterfield said the trial date could change.
The couple is charged with several burglaries in an area off U.S. 158 and N.C. 86, going back to 2007.
They were taken into custody Aug. 11 when their car was spotted by Caswell County deputies and stopped on U.S. 158.
Law enforcement officers said they recovered stolen property from a recent burglary during the stop.
Authorities said they also found items allegedly taken from a Pittsylvania County man’s residence during a search of the couple’s home.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said items worth more than $75,000 stolen from three homes in the county were identified. He said pending forensic analysis on items taken from four more homes, authorities could have discovered more than $100,000 in stolen property in the couple’s home.
