Danville stabbing leaves one dead

Danville police investigate an early-morning stabbing in the 700 block of Holland Road that left a mother dead and sent her 17-year-old son to the hospital with non-life threatening stab wounds.

A mother and son were stabbed early Friday morning in the 700 block of Holland Road, according to Danville Police.

Police Chief Philip Broadfoot said shortly before 5 a.m. a resident called the police and reported that a 17-year-old boy was lying in the road near Holland Baptist Church.

When they arrived, police found him with non-life threatening stab wounds. The same resident who initially called the police told them where they boy lived on Holland Road, Broadfoot said.

When they got to the house, police found the mother, Brenda Marie Lewis, lying on the ground, apparently stabbed to death, a release from the police department stated.

Her body will be sent to the Roanoke Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Her 17-year-old son was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment.
