Gov. Timothy M. Kaine will give state lawmakers the hard news today about Virginia’s worsening budget crisis.

Kaine is due to speak at 9:30 a.m. to a joint meeting of the Senate Finance and House Appropriations committees at the General Assembly Building in Richmond.

The governor will report the final revenue numbers for the fiscal year that ended June 30 and discuss the possible revision of revenue forecast for the second year of the current biennial budget.

Last week, Kaine announced spending reductions of $49 million from the last budget, as well as the budgets for this fiscal year and the year following.

A detailed report on the reductions can be found online at http://www.governor.virginia.gov/reductionPlan.pdf.
