A former Danville resident severely injured in a Saturday collision outside Philadelphia remains in critical condition.
Dr. Allan Moore, 31, and his wife, Rebekah Gee, were both injured Saturday night after they collided with a Land Rover while riding a Vespa, according to a statement from the Lower Merion (Pa.) Police Department.
On Tuesday afternoon, Curt Steiner, senior vice president of university relations at the Ohio State University, where Moore’s father-in-law E. Gordon Gee serves as president, reported that Moore remains in critical condition. His wife is doing well.
Moore, who is currently a fellow in endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital and is conducting research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, grew up in Danville.
He was an active member of the Boy Scouts and a member of First Baptist Church.
“He’s a very intelligent boy. He was a leader in our Boy Scout troop. He was looked to by all the Scouts,” Dr. Max Lassiter, Moore’s former scoutmaster, said Tuesday.
Moore, an Eagle Scout, returned to Danville about six or seven year ago to talk to current troop members, Lassiter said.
“He gave a very inspiring speech,” said Lassiter, noting Moore told the boys no to give up on their goals and to continue their education.
A statement from the Lower Marion Police Department reported that at 6:54 p.m. Saturday, Moore and his wife were traveling south on Roberts Road in Bryn Mawr, Pa., when the scooter entered County Line Road. The Vespa collided with a Land Rover that was traveling westbound in the passing lane, police said.
The two were ejected from the scooter. The driver of the Land Rover wasn’t injured.
Moore, who was driving, arrived at the hospital in critical condition with head and torso trauma, according to the report.
Police didn’t immediately say whether the two were wearing helmets, but did say the speed limit at the scene of the accident was 35 mph.

I’ve known Allan since 8th grade and was shocked to hear about his accident. My prayers are with him, his wife, and his family and I pray he makes a quick recovery.
