A fire caused minor damage to the restaurant at Belk’s Department Store earlier Thursday in Danville.

The Danville Fire Department arrived at about 1 p.m. and found smoke coming from the roof vents, according to assistant chief Steve Dishman. The smoke traveled from the kitchen to a fire in a deep fryer.

The fire was suppressed through fire extinguishers. There was some smoke in the kitchen area and fire damaged was limited to the fryer.

All employees had to evacuate the area prior to the fire department getting the situation under control. No one was injured.
