Heavy rain has flooded several streets in Danville, according to police. Flooded streets include Riverside Drive, West Main Street, River Street and the Jefferson Street area.

Residents in the Long Branch, Apple Branch and other low-lying areas need to keep an eye on flood-prone streams this afternoon. Emergency Services Director Doug Young said expect more heavy rain this afternoon which may push some of these streams out of their banks.

Young said the area has experienced a solid soaking rain which is needed.

Motorists are urged to avoid these streets and exercise extreme caution while driving due to torrential rainfall in the Danville area.
