CHATHAM – The town of Chatham has shut down its water supply because of a major break in its water line.

No residents or businesses on the town’s system can get water until the break is fixed, Town Manager Mike Jones said early Wednesday evening.

After the break is repaired, the Virginia Department of Public Health and Environment will test the water for contaminants, he said.
