‘It’s just moving’: Event celebrates those who fought to ensure freedom
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 647, in cooperation with the Danville Area Veterans Council, sponsored the Memorial Day service at U.S. (Danville) National Cemetery on Lee Street on Sunday afternoon. About 150 people attended the event.
Rockingham County Memorial Day service
An unseasonably warm day brought out the umbrellas and fans for Sunday’s Memorial Day Ceremony at Rockingham County’s Veteran’s Park.
Many of the more than 150 visitors seated in bleachers and chairs facing the park’s stone monuments sweated and fanned as they waited for the service to begin, but it would take more than a little heat to keep them from the event.
Reidsville checkpoint ends in 46 charges
The Reidsville Police Department conducted a DWI checkpoint on South Scales Street near Lawndale Drive between 10 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday. The stop resulted in 46 charges.
