Dressed in a ruffled shirt, striped vest, knee-length yellow jacket and pants, Todd Southard looked the part of a respectable Colonial gentleman. ETJ plans moves forward for Rockingham towns
Commissioners voted to allow Reidsville to begin the expansion process in two areas. The smaller proposed area is on either side of N.C. 87 near Holliday Loop Road. The area is expected to grow when the proposed equestrian center opens. The largest is the area between Freeway Drive and Lake Reidsville. The city chose that area, Community Development Director Michael Pearce said, because it wanted greater control of the watershed feeding into the city’s water supply.

The U.S. Marshals Service has apprehended Christoper Lee Wharton, 17, of Danville in connection with the March 16 murder of 26-year-old Heath Clark Alloway of Martinsville
Indictment handed down in stabbing death
20-year old Lorenza Jones was indicted on first-degree murder and robbery in connection with the homicide of 21-year-old Precious Saunders.
Reidsville backs countywide sales tax
The Reidsville City Council has passed a resolution of support for the quarter-cent sales tax proposal to benefit the Rockingham County schools. The resolution was passed at a special council meeting Wednesday morning.
Reidsville man charged
Harry Morehead was placed under $50,000 bail and is being held in the Rockingham County Jail.

Man pleads guilty in Amherst murder
Robert Charles Gleason Jr., 38, plead guilty in Amherst Circuit Court to the first-degree murder of Michael Kent Jamerson of Madison Heights, whose body was found near Virginia 130 in May 2007.
