For some summer weekend fun, bring your car to the car show in the Draper section of Eden on Saturday morning or watch the cars cruise the block in downtown Reidsville on Friday evening.

Draper Car Show

The Three Rivers Chapter AACA is sponsoring the Draper Car Show on Saturday. The car club is bringing back the show after a four-year hiatus because of a decline in membership.

“This year we’ve got more members, so we’re going to try to do it again,” said Paul Gover, Three Rivers Chapter AACA member.

Cars of all classes, eras and categories will line Fieldcrest Road in Draper. The show will include 43 classes of cars and trucks, including street rods, low-rider trucks, foreign cars, Camaros and Mustangs.

“If we get enough motorcycles, we will have a motorcycle class,” said Gover.

The car club will give out three best-in-class trophies for each class. The club will also award trophies to the best of show, ladies’ choice, best antique car, best antique truck, best modified car, best modified truck and a hard luck trophy for the car owner who gets a flat tire, runs out of gas or has another hard run of luck.

Saturday’s car show will honor the memory of former Three Rivers club member Marvin Lemons and former members Ronald and Frances Fagg.

Food and concessions will be available, and everyone is welcome. Gover said people are coming to the show from as far away as Hickory, Catawba and Elkin.

“This will be family oriented. No alcoholic beverages or loud music,” said Gover.

The Draper Car Show begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Registration is from 8 to 11 a.m. The cost of registration the day of the show is $20. Trailer parking is available.

Downtown Reidsville Second Friday Cruise-In

Come to downtown Reidsville between 6 and 9 p.m. Friday and watch antique cars cruise the block. The EZ Street Cruisers Car Club invites owners of cars 25 years or older to bring their antique automobiles. The Linwood Parker Band will provide entertainment in the Southwest Market Street parking lot. The downtown restaurants will be open. People are asked to bring a can of food to donate to the Reidsville Outreach Center.

Reidsville Chamber All-America City Ice Cream Social

The Reidsville Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual ice cream social on the lawn of the chamber office at 513 S. Main St. Drop by anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. Thursday for homemade ice cream and to celebrate Reidsville’s “All-America City” status.
